Paranoid Pictures
2003
Print on Paper

In 2003, Banksy produced a small edition of canvases in acrylic and stencil spray paint featuring a parody of the Paramount Pictures logo, retitled Paranoid Pictures. By appropriating a symbol of Hollywood glamour and entertainment, Banksy subverts mass culture, transforming a familiar image into a vehicle for social critique.
The work is accompanied by a line from his early text Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall:
“Your mind works best when you’re paranoid. You explore every avenue and possibility of your situation at high speed with total clarity.” —Banksy
Through this piece, Banksy highlights paranoia not as weakness but as heightened awareness, encouraging viewers to question what lies beneath the surface of popular imagery and received wisdom.
