Banksy™ Cushions
2019

Original Cushions

The Banksy™ Cushions were part of the artist’s satirical homeware line released through Gross Domestic Product™, his short-lived Croydon shop in 2019. The store’s title itself parodied Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the measure of national wealth, poking fun at both consumer culture and the art market.

The cushions, emblazoned with Banksy’s signature stencil imagery, transformed the language of protest into items of everyday domestic comfort. By placing motifs of subversion and dissent onto soft furnishings, Banksy highlighted the absurdity of rebellion turned into lifestyle décor.

Produced in strictly limited numbers and sold via an online lottery, the Banksy™ Cushions became highly sought-after collector’s pieces, blurring the line between mass-produced merchandise and politically charged art.
