Radar Rat
2004
Print on Wood

"Rader Rat" is a screen print with hand-finished details. It was produced by POW∗ in a limited edition of 75 signed prints and originally sold at Santa's Ghetto yearly pop-up shops for £300. This artwork is part of Banksy's well-known stencil graffiti series and was also featured as the cover of Dirty Funker's album Future in 2008. The rat depicted in the piece symbolises both surveillance and rebellion, as stated by Banksy himself "If you are dirty, insignificant, and unloved, then rats are the ultimate role model." Through this statement, Banksy invites us to consider the unconventional sources of inspiration and the potential for resistance in the face of societal norms.
