Paint Pot Angel
2009
Sculpture

In 2009, Banksy modified a 19th-century plaster cast of an angel, splattering it with pink paint and placing an empty bucket over its head. The intervention challenges traditional expectations of what visitors anticipate seeing in a museum and questions the value society assigns to art.
The work was displayed among the permanent collections during the landmark exhibition Banksy versus Bristol Museum in 2009, after which the artist donated it to Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives.
